Title Bound

[Picture]

The Saddlebred gelding Title Bound has secured his place as a champion, earning the title CH before his name. Four times the World Champion Ladies Gelding, unfortunate twists of fate prevented him from earning the title Champion of Champions. During the 2006 Championship he sustained an injury that was thought would end his career, but with careful nurturing he made a comeback in 2008, winning the Ladies Gelded Gaiting Championship, and winning the Grand Championship, earning his well-deserved blanket of flowers and the title World Champion of Champions. CH Title Bound's tail hair has been generously donated by Hillcroft Farm in Paris, Kentucky.

Xochitl S. Barnes

Called "Sheila" by her friends, the first name of artist Xochitl S. Barnes is the Aztec word for "flower". An artist since her youth, Barnes began focusing on equine portraits in 1971, organizing the New Jersey Equine Artists Association in 1999 to promote equine art and artists in the area. Her work has been prominently featured at the American Academy of Equine Art at the International Museum of the Horse in Lexington, Kentucky, garnering numerous awards. Additionally, it has been featured commercially on book covers, including a new edition of Black Beauty, and for books released in conjunction with the Dreamwork's animated feature Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. Her oil painting of Title Bound depicts the jubilant and playful horse with ribbons flying and heading toward the stars.

About the Project

Fifty-two artists from around the country have been chosen and each given small replicas of a violin and bow. Each artist has been assigned an unforgettable, beloved horse and has created a work of art. Artists have worked with paint, glass, metal, and other mediums. Their only charge was to embrace either the image or spirit of their horse. Horses include well-known Thoroughbreds, as well as other breeds represented in the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™.

Each piece will be on display at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™. During the Games, a silent auction will take place, with all proceeds go to the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra’s Partners in Education, a program benefiting the children in high-risk areas of Kentucky through music education.

Please take the time to enjoy our art gallery (link to gallery), learn more about our special events (link to special events), and shop in our retail area for your very own HORSETAILS® 2010 merchandise. If you have questions about the project or would like more information, please contact us.
